Vic piano and irma

ALL: Just received a text from Vic, he and Sherry (Tampa) are OK: no damage to the house, cars or garage, but lots of large trees down. His property has (had?) lots of large trees surrounding the house. He will be busy playing Paul Bunyan and "driving" a chain saw for a while.

No news from other members, except my Daughter and Grandson in Palm Bay: Damage to their storage shed, but nothing to the house, and they are well.

Anyone else with news??

Marcus, thanks for the update. I have been wondering about Vic and others in Florida.

Re: Vic piano and irma

I heard from another owner at my condominium complex in Marathon. He said there was no major damage there, which is kind of a miracle, given the storm's path.

Edit : I spoke to a person that does not live in our complex, and from what she said, Marathon itself is devastated.

Marcus, thanks for taking the time to report. We're thankful for those reports of well being.

Re: Vic piano and irma

Hi Marcus. Everything turned out ok for us as well; we only lost one small tree. The lights dimmed a few times but we never lost power. It certainly could have been a lot worse had the storm crept up the west coast. I hope the other barners in the area are ok.

Steve, I'm glad you all are OK. Anyone heard from Mike?

I heard from my brother in Bradenton, Fla. and he had no damage other that two trees and he was planning on removing later this year anyway.

I also heard from three other members of our car club and their Winter places came out of the storm with no damage.

My brother in St Augustine texted they're OK but no power. Didn't say anything about damage though.

ALL: Wonderful news all around! Steve and Vic, any word on the other Florida 'Barners who have not checked in? My daughter also stated that it might be weeks before full power is restored. She has a generator, grill and plenty of gas - at least does not have to worry about cold weather........

MS also sending power assist crews: quite a moving sight to observe our Highway Patrol "bluelighting" the service vehicles - had a patrol unit front and rear. Did the same for LA and TX.........proud of our guys!

I just got pictures of our place in Dunedin (Tampa area) Just across the road from the sea. The early forecast was scary and we were sure we would lose the house. Anyway, no high winds or sea surge. And our place is fine, but surrounded by small tree limbs.
Glad to see some good reports from around the state.
John

By late Saturday night, literally HUNDREDS of crews and trucks had already staged at various points in Florida, including the Daytona 500 lot and at the Disney lot in Orlando. At THAT time, crews had arrived from 33 states. Nobody can say anything derogatory about the preparations and pre-planning by Trump and Scott. DD

Silly me, here I thought this was a thread rejoicing in the good news about how some came through Irma better than hoped. Instead, it is really about grinding meaningless political axes. Hope all you grateful people find somewhere else to celebrate cause there's important posturing that needs to happen.

By all means, proceed.

Marcus...All is well in Lakeland...at least at our house. Just a large Live Oak tree that landed in our driveway from across the street. Never liked that tree anyway! The city removed it yesterday...I am told. Hope you and Margretha are fine!

I am just glad fellow Fordbarn folks are safe with minimal damage. Now it's time to think about the many, many others who did not come out of this so well ....
