38 PU doing its Job 3 Attachment(s)
See attached pics of my 38 PU. Working in glasshouse and made a few trips to Landscape to get some vege mix compost for this season.
On the way also picked up a couple of bags of horse manure and sawdust. The PU performed well. As in one pic she was well down on the springs. A little light at the fron but did the job which i believe this vehicle is built for. A workhorse fun to drive and good to use it as it was designed for.Attachment 329413 Attachment 329414 Attachment 329415 Phil Nz |
Re: 38 PU doing its Job Nice to see! I use my '36 for chores all the time.

Re: 38 PU doing its Job always good to see them on the road. my '49 seems to like a medium load in the back. cleans out the pipes.
|
Re: 38 PU doing its Job That's a nice load in there. These fords are great workers and never complain. Thanks for posting!

Re: 38 PU doing its Job My restored 45 has a varnished wood bed. My wife asked me what we would haul? I told her, "Pillows."

Re: 38 PU doing its Job Good to make 'em squat once in a while. Great looking truck. Did Ford offer the black fenders?
|
Re: 38 PU doing its Job What's the bed?
Your 38, I bet had no issues! |
Re: 38 PU doing its Job Bed is just some 1/2'' plywood. Was going to fit the fancy timber with ribbing strips.
But then thats not in keeping with the vehicle which originally was a farm truck back in the day for the farm of the Flemmings family way down south out of Invercargill at a place called Mabel Bush. Have this on the door and it gets good comments from those who remember. Has an 8BA in it and runs and drives very well. A pleasure to use. Phil NZ. |
Re: 38 PU doing its Job Interesting, spare tire on the left

Not what I was commenting about, the bed is different then a stock 38. tonners I have no reference. I agree it looks great and I'm sure its preforms well, just curious. History however it's achieved is interesting.
My truck has a plywood bottom. It's great! |

Re: 38 PU doing its Job Nice truck , I hope you are going to leave her as is . My 39 still has metal skin over wood tho it is a bit rusty , but is going to stay that way in my lifetime. The gas filler is thru the left rear fender on my 39 Great truck SUNSHINE...

Re: 38 PU doing its Job That's cool!. Pickups always have to earn their keep around my place or why have one. The back of my 59 has steel posts, cinder blocks and a couple chainsaws in it right now. If you aren't going to use the back, might as well have a coupe.

Re: 38 PU doing its Job Yes for the observers, The fuel filler should pass through the left rear guard,
and spare is mounted at left side. This PU was owned by the NZ Acclimatization Society, then taken by NZ army for the war period then went to Flemmings where it was used and later brought from down south at Wyndam at a clearance sale. Then rebuilt to its present condition which i would describe as a daily driver user friendly PU. Phil NZ |
