"My wife says I must sell it"

As a newbie here I'm starting the search for my 1st Model A. Coming back home from a short weekend trip Sunday, I spot a for sale sign on a red 31 wide bed pickup about 90 minutes from home. We stopped to look. Rust free body, good top, no dents, good tires, clean interior, engine sparkled, decent paint but in bad need of a good wax job. I called the seller today. Its a restoration from the late 80s. 5 years ago he had the engine rebuilt .020 over, balanced crank, lightened flywheel, etc. Tells me his wife says he has too many cars and the Model A must go. Asking price? $25,000. Its nice, but I see many nicer offered well under $20K! In a few months I can hear him telling his wife "Honey, I've tried for months, but I just can't find a buyer. I guess I'll have to keep it."

Well his excuse might hold for a few seconds after she says lower the price.

If my wife told me I had too many cars......I'd look for another!
Maybe wife, not car.

I had a customer several years ago who had his AA truck all apart and most of it in his rec. room. His new girlfriend came to visit and she saw the parts and said" that junk will have to go". He said "no, you need to go".
Smart man.

In preparing for Irma I'm bringing certain car parts into the house as the house is more secure than my shop. My wife is all for it!

I had a girlfriend in H.S. who wanted me to sell my 29 Tudor (unrestored) and get a "nicer car, like Doug has." Doug got the girl, and I kept the car. She's gone, and my car is still in my garage. That was 55 years ago.

One Gal I met 5 years ago mentioned she had a 10 car garage and it was empty. Well it wasn't that bad but the term high maintenance came to mind. I built my own garage!

Old cars, especially Model A's are nice, and fun to have around, but I have yet to find one that can cook, and I get hungry every day.

I learned to cook when my Xwife left, and I have not starved yet in the 25 years since. It is also peaceful and quiet around here, and nobody crabs about all my cars and motorcycles.

Some things in life are a pain in the butt. Other things are beautiful.

The best things in life don't talk back.

Smart man.

He was a smart man. Usually, when a girl tells you something like that it's not the car that is a problem it is a control thing, she's seeing if she can push you around and make you do what she says. She was using the guy's Model AA Ford as leverage to see if he'd jump at her commands.

If he would have gone along and gotten rid of his Model AA I can pretty much assure you that SHE would be long gone by now too, no doubt found somebody else she can bully or whatever. Somebody else who she can spend their money. You see it all the time.

A Model A Ford is always cheaper than a Wife!
