1940 ford wire gauge sizes. Help!!!
 

Hey guys can you tell me the correct wire gauge sizes for the following please. This car is 6v positive ground of course.
Headlights=
Generator to amp meter
Starter button to solenoid
Ignition switch to coil
Tail lights
Brake lights
Instrument lights

I think 10g for headlights and charging system. And 14g for tail and brake lights

Here are a couple of diagrams with wiring size. Not 1940, but all 6 volt wire sizing should be the same.

Wire are sized according to multiple factors. 6-volt doesn't push current well so it need wire with less resistance. Cars aren't so large that you have to have any really long runs of conductor thankfully so 16 gauge will work for most low current circuits. Where higher current levels are drawn such as headlamps and where main buss wiring interconnects to multiple circuits and power generation circuits you will find some pretty large gauge conductors as was already mentioned.
