Overdrive relay Hi everyone, can someone tell me if the SOL terminal on the O/D relay is positioned at the top as it is mounted on the firewall. In the pics that I was able to find on the net, the relay was mounted with the fuse side facing the steering column. The relay that I have is stamped on the cover with SOL on the bottom and H on the top with it mounted. Only problem is the terminals are stamped just the opposite, looks like the cover might have been reversed at some time. Just want to make sure I wire it correctly. Fuse facing steering column and SOL connection is at the top !! Thanks. old guy rich.

Re: Overdrive relay I'd go by what's stamped on the terminals. As you say, cover could have been reversed. My OD has a 30 amp Bosch relay mounted on the engine side of my firewall, separate from its 30 amp fuse.

Re: Overdrive relay 4 Attachment(s)
Yes - But I notice amungst my motly wiring, that the SOL stamped into the OD relay cover is UPSIDE DOWN.

Re: Overdrive relay Picture 3 should answer it for you. It is oriented like your relay in the picture.

Re: Overdrive relay Most all of the old original RBM overdrive relays from that era have the SOL stamped upside down on the cover as mounted to the firewall so it looks just like the photo in post #3 above. the ignition fuse is always on the drivers side (of left hand drive) of these units. Someone may have pulled the cover and reinstalled it wrong. Sometimes the points do need cleaning on these old relays.
