I just noticed on my '39 peeekup a bracket with a ball end on it mounted on the frame under the floor boards. It is quite worn. It is near and below the pedal pivots. What do it do?

The truck had a 35 gear box which is now on the floor.

The current pedal shaft is higher up than near the ball. The ball mount is on the lip of the frame. When we first got the truck, I was asked where the pivot was. The current setup does not use the ball.We are getting ready to install the rebuilt 37 gearbox with 39 gears. We'll see what's what.

Well, when they get the photo post function fixed I will post a photo of the differences in the clutch setup. If it was me I would stick with the earlier clutch arrangement regardless of the transmission you are using. The clutch linkage is not related to the transmission you are using. Even with a T5 you can use the earlier clutch linkage setup.

The clutch equalizer shaft bracket & ball assembly was first used in 1940 (according to the Green Book). So, I would guess you have a 1940 frame assembly or someone has added it to a 1939 frame. Have you checked the frame serial number?

I don't find a visible frames number. I'll look in the green book.

Them frame numbers can be a bear!! They are there, but it can be a challenge finding and reading them.
