59AB Fuel Pump stand ?

I would like to remove the steel tube socket for the breather in the fuel pump stand. The tube is steel, the stand looks like pot metal. I was thinking of heating the stand to expand it enough to get the tube out. Any ideas or experiences to share ? Thank you Fordbarners.

I did that and it melted. I ruined the stand but I did get the steel sleeve out to make my 36 breather taller to fit my dual carb high rise set up. It melted really fast so be carefully.

Be careful. Not only does the pot metal casting have a low melting point, it is somewhat fragile and can be broken easily if gripped in a vise or such. Also, these are getting to be somewhat pricey.

I recall seeing different fuel pump stands (without a pump flange) in several vendors catalogs. Maybe Speedway, or someone may have a better suggestion.

When I want to remove some pressed in tubing putting a socket or other metal that fits close, then clamp in vice, this way you don't crush the tubing

This is the best way we've found. I forgot the size but we used a regular deep socket from the toolbox and slid it all the way in the tube so that it bottomed out against the stand body. Then we were able to grip the thin tube without crushing it, and simply twisted it out. After everything is cleaned up we can reinstall it with some blue locktite.

Great ideas, thank you. I will try the the interior support, grip it and turn it out method.
