Why do I "have permission to post" in the swap section????

I tried to respond to a post in the Swap Meet section and a message stated I "don't permission to access this page" popped up. I sent a PM to the administrator but so far have not gotten a response. Anyone else have this problem?

I sure screwed up on this post. Title should read "don't have permission to post" and the same in the text: "don't have permission to post.

There used to be arguments on the swap meet page. someone would list something for sale and then people would start commenting on the fact that it is wrong, or their description is wrong, etc. It made it very messy. Lots of discussion clouding the sale. Not necessary.

If you are interested in the item, the new rules are that no one can reply to the sale. Just contact the seller. You don't have to comment on it. Write directly to the seller and ask a question. That is done by clicking on their name and selecting "send a private message to XXXX"

It's a common practice on forums to use that rule in the "for sale" section for the very reason Jason gave. Same deal on an RV forum that I'm on. The big problem on there is that people will often list their RV for sale with very little information and no photos or price. It would be nice if others could ask questions that would be of general interest to all potential viewers. But I understand the reason for it.

The seller can add the information that is need to update the ad at any time. The rules have been in place for quite some time, that's the way Ryan wants it because postings on the ad's were getting blasted with too much BS and rude postings.
All one need to do is read the information posted in several place about replying to ads.

Re: Why do I "have permission to post" in the swap section????

A few bytes of digital information on one add post doesn't seem like much but after a few thousand add posts it can get into the Mega Bytes. It's all about how much the server can hold and work with to keep the site going smoothly.

PMs don't carry too much information as long as you empty out you message box every now and then. There are also limits to how many PMs you can keep in your member file so eventually you have to clear out the closet.
