I want to send my lever shocks out for rebuild over the winter, car is original, what special tools do I need for removal?, any tips or tricks I need to know?
Thanks

No special tools or tricks required if you are not intending to reuse the "old" links.
If you intend to use the old links, you'll need to get your hands on a tie rod end removal tool. NOT a "pickle fork"! A "pickle fork" will destroy the link(s).

If you are replacing the links, your task will be much simpler.

I'd suggest you leave the link attached to the shock arm and once the assembly is removed from the vehicle, then remove the link

Obviously you'll need to remove the link (end) from the rear axle housing / front perch. I would remove the nut and place a drift against the end of the stud. Utilizing a 2# hammer, give the drift a hearty blow. The link should come free.
For the end still remaining in the shock, place the shock arm in a vise and after removing the nut, simply "whack" it with the hammer.
