Available 6 volt bull horn kit?

My Town Sedan has the original 6 volt positive ground electrical system. I want a bull horn kit. I’ve searched for the Jubilee No. 90 kit in 6 volt, but they are extremely rare. All I can find are non-branded 12 volt bull horn kits. My gut tells me that they are more than likely garbage. Wolo makes a 12 volt kit, but the reviews on Amazon state that it’s junk. This somewhat surprises me because I installed a set of Wolo marine horns on my truck and they work great. Anyways, locating a 6 volt bull horn kit seems to be nearly impossible. I’m thinking about buying a 12 volt horn and modifying it. I’ve searched all over for an electrical schematic of the horn but haven’t found one.
My questions:
I looked at Snyders, Brattons, Smith and Jones, Mac’s, Mike’s A-Ford-Able. None carry them. I searched ePay far and wide. I found little, and the few I found were not complete kits or looked very beaten up.
Is there a source for a 6 volt bull horn that I’m not aware of?
Has anyone purchased a 12 volt bull horn and modified it to work on a 6 volt system? If so, what changes did you make? Did the modification prove successful?

What is the current draw of the 12 volt horn? You might be able to use a voltage converter to up the power and leave the horn alone.

I'm wondering the same thing. I picked up a bull horn at an estate sale last weekend and am wanting to convert the guts to 6 volt. Haven't opened it up yet, but I'm thinking that I can put the parts of a model T horn in there to make it happen. The bull horn cost a whole dollar!

Are you sure it isn't a 6 volt bull horn, as that's what I always see?

Jubilee no. 90 was the original 6 volt Bull horn when it was available.. I bought mine from JC Whitney back in the 70's. I see them occasionally at swap meets and flea markets.

Mine has 12v stamped in the metal.

Has anyone tried the 12 volt bull horn on a 6 volt battery?

It would be worth a try. I think it's just a coil of wire inside, so it should be easy to rewind it with less and heavier wire to make it 6 volt.

Tom,

I wondered the same thing. I have a concern about mounting a 12 volt negative ground horn into a 6 volt positive ground system. Do you think polarity would be a problem?

Guess I gave s couple options. Buy a horn and attempt to modify it.

I might just call Wolo and ask to speak to an engineer. It'd be great if I could get a wiring diagram.

Polarity shouldn't matter on the horn.
