34 Cabriolet Rumble Seat Latch Cable ? I have a question about my 34 Ford Cabriolet I have been working on for the past couple years. I finally got around to fixing the latch mechanism with the help of Don P.
Now all I have to do is install latch, problem is that the original wire wound solid wire cable is cut. I cut it several years ago because I could not get in trunk. Crawled under the back of my front seat while two people held the seat. I looked around and was trying to see why handle behind seat would not pull latch. Long story short is that I cut cable and need to replace. I do not even know if I have a piece of it, who or how do I reproduce this Cable, thank you, Bruce |
Re: 34 Cabriolet Rumble Seat Latch Cable ? It was originally spring wire (solid core) wound with round wire, the same as was used on '32 four-cylinder starter switch cables and '33-'34 four-cylinder throttle cables (and in certain '32-'34 RHD applications). The overall outside diameter was about half that of a speedometer cable casing.
Hopefully you kept the small clevis that was attached to the end of the cable. |
Re: 34 Cabriolet Rumble Seat Latch Cable ? DavidG, Have looked in my V8 Book and have not found a photo. After 80 plus years the clevis are none existent. Anyone have a photo of routing, one hole straps and clevis, appreciate the info and help,

Re: 34 Cabriolet Rumble Seat Latch Cable ? Bruce
When I did my 34 cabriolet 48 years ago I used the brake cable from an English bicycle. I suppose that you can get a cable from a bicycle store. I still have the car and the cable is still working. |
