28 roadster rear panel/wheel arch detail wanted I would probably call the lower rear panel a beaver panel, but my project ATM does not have much to go on where this panel wraps around and I think screws into the rear of the rear wheel arch panel.
I seem to think it has 2 screws on either side that may resemble the way a door hinge is screwed on with countersunk screws . Any detail pics of this area is much appreciated. |
Re: 28 roadster rear panel/wheel arch detail wanted Can't picture at all which panel or the area you're referring to - can you post a picture of the area in question? Is it the rear panel below the trunk or rumble lid?

OK, the "door hinge" idea just kicked in!! Here's some pictures of the area that I think will show you what you need to know - the wheelwell panel fits between the subframe and the bracket and there are 2 rivets holding everything together. Also 2 small rivets towards the front of the wheelwell.
On another matter, are you aware of the poor quality of the repro panels used below the trunk/rumble lid? The originals were curved whereas the repros are not, and unless they are modified you'll have no end of problems with the deck lid alignment - especially with a rumble lid. I remember "Flop" saying that it was the biggest pain in the butt of anything on the whole body!! If you need more info about this let me know and I can take some measurements, etc.. Good luck! Re: 28 roadster rear panel/wheel arch detail wanted Pic 4 shows me all I need to know .
I have since sold my AR phaeton, but seem to remember 2 screws instead of 2 rivets at that panel. Maybe the memory has faded. OZ bodies have wood subframes, and the rivet that is in the USA lower cowl pillar thru the metal subframe is a long coach/cuphead bolt thru the OZ timber stringer. As we got these bodies in kit form, I do not know what if anything was rivetted during assembly here . The rivets around the cowl pillar base and firewall would have been done in USA/Canada before shipping. I do now remember there is an OZ roadster here in town I can see and make sure. Thanks for doing the pics and description Randy.. |
Re: 28 roadster rear panel/wheel arch detail wanted Pooch,
I like the combination on the body and fenders of your roadster in your Photobucket. What are those colors? They really go well together. David Serrano |
