40-41 pickup seat ?'s Back again about my new to me 41 pickup. Tried multiple searches, no luck.
The newly upholstered seat has me stumped. The support is good and installed. The wood cushion base is missing. I'll make it from plywood. The bottom cushion has a flat steel pivoted arm about 4" long attached at the rear on each side. What does this go to? The back rest cushion has halves of two box hinges riveted to the edge of the frame. Where and to what do these attach? Anyone have pics that they can post of this? Thanks! |
Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s you do not have a 40/41 seat, sounds like what you have fits 42 to 47.

Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s If it is the correct seat, it will have extensions on the top of the back to slide up into slots on each side if the back glass and the hinges on the bottom will attach to the seat cushion.

Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s Thanks for the replies.
The cab is a 41, no under seat tank or opening. The seat could be later (that's what I'm leaning toward) . Still would like to know how it goes together, even if it's 42-47. |
Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s I wonder if you have a miss matched seat bottom and back. The 38-39 trucks have a hinge half on both the back seat and the seat bottom. The hinges mate together and pin is inserted .

Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s the under seat surround has two knobs on it, the original 40/41 seat bottom had three holes giving you three seat adjustments. the seat back had two long extensions that slid up into slots in the rear cab braces. the seat back was also attached to the seat bottom with a hinge arrangement so that so that when you moved the seat to one of the three holes the back followed. on the 42/47 seat the seat bottom was attached to the surround using the hinge that is on you seat--it was attached at the back on either side and also had extra holes for adjustment. the 42/47 seat back was attached at the top with a hinge that was attached to rear of cab braces. 42/47 cab also had a board that went behind the seat back that allowed some adjustment of the seat back. I have two 41 trucks and a 40 truck and a 47 truck cab so I somewhat know the differences

Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s hotrodA,
I have a '36 Ford pickup and the wood base I purchased new from Lebaron-Bonney. The wood base has three sets of holes up-front that fit into little "knubs" that stick straight up, for seat adjustment forward and backwards. The seat backrest attaches with two hinges to the bottom side of the wooden seat base. The seat backrest has two uprights that fit into open slots on the bottom side of the railing that goes across the bottom of the rear window. I can send photos if needed. |
Re: 40-41 pickup seat ?'s As others have said if the backrest and cushion are joined at the bottom of the backrest with extensions that hook beside the rear window it is a 40-41 seat and the adjustment is three holes in the riser.
If the backrest hinges to the cab at the top it is a 42-47 seat and the backrest adjustment is a board behind the backrest that moves it out from the bottom. |
