Window regulator install The door window on my coupe after having a dead spot finally quit. After taking the garnish moulding off I could see what appeared to be baling wire meshed between the regulator and the small gear driven by the crank. I spent a few hours pulling all that wire through the gears so now with no tension from the wire I ordered a small gear repair kit from Drake.
Is there a trick installing this kit leaving the window in or must I pull the regulator ? Any tips most appreciated. |
Re: Window regulator install Your going to have to pull the regulator out, the small gear is in a little housing riveted on with the crank handle shaft coming out of it also.

Re: Window regulator install Replacing windows, regulators, window channels, etc., in these early Ford doors will definitely be a learning experience if it's the first time someone attempts this job. It's not a difficult job, but can be time consuming for someone with little or no experience, but best to go slow and get it done correctly.

Re: Window regulator install I spent many hours wrestling with the driver's window in my '37 fordor. After discovering this video I got the window installed in 30 minutes. I know this doesn't help with the regulator problem but hope that it helps with the rest of the job.
