Carburetor Problem(?)

My '53 Ford stopped running on the road recently. The motor died as if it had run out of gas. The pump is getting gas through the hose and there is spark. This leads me to believe that there is a carburetor problem.

The carb I have has worked well for the 7 or 8 years it's been on the motor with no signs of trouble. I don't know much about carburetors, and I'm not confident enough to rebuild it myself. Would someone please make a recommendation for a rebuild service for an EAB V8 carburetor. Is ken ct still doing this? I am in southeastern Massachusetts and would prefer not to send the unit across the country if I don't have to.

Thank you.
Rick

I would think the "NY" in "Charlie NY" should tell you something. That, along with the myriad of posts on this site attesting to the quality of his work.

Have you looked down the carb while pushing on the throttle to see if there is a squirt of gas?

Thank you, tubman. I found his contact information in another thread.

Thank you, also, Bill. So easy to overlook the obvious!

That happened to me in my 52 Merc...when taking off the gas cap there was a "whoosh"...tank vent was plugged starving the engine. It ruptured the fuel pump diaphragm too.
