vent tube on EAB On disassembly I noticed there was no oil deflectors or vent tube in valve valley. This is 52 EAB motor.. the tube I refer to is in the front right hand side of valley the deflectors are on earlier blocks they snap on to the cross oil tube. Do I need these on my late block?

Re: vent tube on EAB My EAB has them both. I'd say the tube is pretty important, the deflectors less so.

Re: vent tube on EAB You should have the deflectors snap on oil tube, with out them alot of oil will splashed up in the valve spring area and be sucked up the intake guides. You should have the breather pipe in side to direct the fumes out the breather tube down the front of the engine, I install a PCV valve in the front of the manifold run a hose into the manifold or under the carb to suck the fumes out. Re: vent tube on EAB Thanks for the info. does any one have a spare set of deflectors? I can make the tube. and I will be using a pcv valve. should it be taped in to the down draft or the tall vent tube?

Re: vent tube on EAB 51Merc-Ct is right. That hole in the front of the manifold is 1-1/4 dia. About any parts store have those gromets, about any engine with rockers covers have them and the PCV fits into the hole in the gromet, Napa has a PCV 2-9210 that I like to use it just about right for a flathead, The pcv hose goes in the pcv and you have to find a place in manifold for the hose, some manifolds plugs on the rear of the carb base, I've drilled and put a fitting in the manifold. I do that with the intake off. Walt

Re: vent tube on EAB I think he meant "tapped, not taped"..... Mark
