long, long sleep over for 36 3 Window

I might be off by one year, but I believe it was 23 years ago that I bought this 36 Window Coupe from a fellow some 550 miles away. I had it moved by a moving company, on a back-haul basis, from Southern British Columbia to central Alberta, where I live. With other projects underway, a mortgage, a day-to-day job, and raising 3 kids all on my plate this old girl found it's way to car jacks and a fairly inaccessible corner of my shop. Finally, with a few days off, with nothing absolutely pressing, I dug this car out and dusted if off. I fixed one leaking valve stem, changed the fluids, removed the plugs and applied penetrating oil and generally prepared the car for running once again. This should happen this week. The engine had not seized during the years which had passed. 'Been smiling all weekend!

No negative vibes......it'll run. Mine sat for 25 years and it started right up.

In my opinion it's one of fords best looking designs. What's the plans after getting it running?

Last year for the three window coupe....Don't ruin it by restoring it....

Tinker, I could not agree more! That body style makes one beautiful old Ford.

Re: long, long sleep over for 36 3 Window

I am restoring a 34 3 Window coupe at present. I really needed a few days off from this work so decided to see exactly I have in the 36 Coupe. Up against a garage wall, I really hadn't seen the right hand side of the car for over two decades.
Frankly, I had forgotten how good this 36 actually is. My vision is to wash the old primer off with gunwash and see what lurks beneath the primed surface. I expect it is simply blotchy paint. I would like to find the correct seat for this car, do the brakes and exhaust and simply drive it as an original car. Ron

I really love the 36 style. I've owned a 2 dr sedan a convertible and a 3 window. Yes put some brakes on it and drive it.

Both the 35 & 36 are lovely shapes.

Ron your a lucky man to have had that car stored away for so long and it's never deteriorated badly. Looks like it won't take a lot of work to commission the car again - it's been a long time coming but enjoy driving it once it's bsck on the road.

That car is a real nice colour, it looks very understated. I like the way the modifications are subtle on it.

Congrats. I wish I had a shop I could hide a 36 in and forget about it. LOL!

Ron looking good post a video when you start it up and do you still have the 38 Ford Standard Coupe that I sold you 25 years ago?

Ya i thought the same thing. drop axle, little off the back, and some blackwall big/littles. Looks like it's going 100mpg sitting still.

That deep maroon is nice.

Clean changes without messing anything up that can't be reversed in a weekend.

Gotta love these 35/36 3w coupes. Definitely one of Henry's finest looking body styles. Hoping to get my 35 3w looking as nice as that 36 above and PeterC's very nice looking 35.

Im sorry that its taken 23 years to get to it. Make it run, do the brakes and enjoy it every day. You need to make up for lost time...
