Re: 1935-6 ford headliner 5 window Early 1935 headliners are different than late '35. '36 is the same as late '35. You will save yourself a lot of frustration and time if you just contact Le Baron Bonney or Cartouche, they will cut it, stitch it and it will fit as originally made. Good luck,......Matt in Alameda

Re: 1935-6 ford headliner 5 window Early 35 with card rear panels .Get a bit of HL cloth wider than what's needed ,sow across at the width of your upper wood bows in two lines include a folded piece of calico 1,1/2 wide to tack through .Start at the back work to the front keep it loose or just firm .after doing the header stretch it from side to side tacking as you go to the back ,Ted

Re: 1935-6 ford headliner 5 window Another way is to tack first at the rear wood bow with just a few tacks ,then lightly pull it back to the rear and tack over the rear window ,then finish at the rear wood bow (reposition if needed ),then tack at the front wood bow , work your way forward to the header .then start to tack over the doors .The stretching is done mainly from side to side .You use a soft piping (Hide am ) along the sides .Then Cut out the light ,It looks much more difficult than it is .Ted

Re: 1935-6 ford headliner 5 window Just add to what I said there is a total of three seams ,don't use the front light bow but the one between the light bow and header , The rear cross bow you thread through the loop of calico sown 10" back from the first light bow . Ted

Couple pictures of an early headliner and rigid panels around the back along with a couple of late headliner which extends to the back window.

Re: 1935-6 ford headliner 5 window Thank you for the pics with the difference between early and late headliners. I'll also check Don's book. And, by coincidence, he lives here in St. Louis and is a member of the local EFV8 club.
