Hey Bubba - I'll be happy to share some more information about that manifold, can take pictures, etc.. I've had it for a few years and will 'eventually' build a blown flathead out of it - with EFI injectors down in the plenum . . . blowing down into the ports.

I've discovered that open plemn intakes can act like a bomb with a backfire. They need a relief valve. I guess this isn't an issue with a blower, but it's something to consider. The one I built is now being converted to an EFI mulit port system

The one you are asking about was made byTony Barron and another gentlemen. Interesting for the earliest aftermarket manifolds from the '30's and '40's were open plenum but didn't work well. Tony was able to sort those issues out. I also think Flatattack from Australia made an open plenum type intake as well.

Ron, post some pics of that when you can. Been wondering about putting multiport EFI on a flathead some time in the future. Rod

Thanks guys thats the one i had seen.
We cut the offy intake center out on our racer truck and found 15 horse power , the biggest single improvement we have done. Looking at this one for our new 304 engine...

The plenum is awfully large, so I'm not sure if it will actually run well or not - especially un-blown.

One of the things that Tom Roberts and I discussed when he was making the patterns was to run long MFI injector nozzles on the sides of the plenum - that reached across/through the open area and blew down the port on the opposite side. Tom drilled the side of mine and then tapped it with the Kinsler Universal Injector Boss threads - so that different injector inserts can be used for MFI, EFI, etc..

What fuel system are you running at BVille and NA or blown?

Hopefully we will run Willmington ECTA meet april 29-May 1st.... We have been running a 600 holley with cut up offy four barrell intake... We dynoed a 300-600 and a 780 holley , the 600 made the most power for us....with this big plenum i might go back to the 735-780 # 3310 carb???? Bigger cubes this time at 304 ...

Hey Bubba - will look you up at the meet. I'll be there crewing with some good friends . . . should be fun. I know there are a few flathead guys that will make the meet, looking forward to meeting some of you. If there is anything you need when you get here, let me know (I'm only a little over an hour North). I'll always help out my fellow Fordbarn friends.

Let me know, if you want me to bring that Tom Roberts manifold with me for you guys to ponder - not a problem.

Re: Open plenum intake??? removable top

I also have been pondering a port injection system and possibly using an M-90 T-Bird blower, or a 6-53 Detroit set up, my biggest concern is what injectors would be suitable, I have tons of ford pieces, would a set of injectors from a 5.0 be a good option or maybe a 5.8 ?, I have a generic 4 barrel manifold a J,C Whitney ( Offenhauser clone) with the partitions milled to an open plenum, I an thinking about mounting the M-90 On it as an experiment to see if it would be feasible. Any suggestions as to what injectors would be a good starting point? I see where someone has mounted a t-bird blower on a manifold and designed a carb mount to fit the 60 horse, can anyone tell me what type of center the blower pulley has whether it is tapered shaft , straight shaft with a key or maybe splined shaft, what diameter the blower pulley shaft is so I can start sorting through my plunder for an assortment of different diameter blower shaft pullies, I was considering driving the blower maybe from the alternator double grooves or looping it from the crank and water pump .
Thanks
Fordestes.
