'49 8BA Fuel pump line and rubber flex line

2 Attachment(s)
What am I doing wrong here. I have new fuel pump pipe and new fuel pump (rubber) flex hose. The threads match up but when I put the little copper "bead" in they won't even come close. Even worse, whatever I did, the old pieces will not go back together. I've had fuel pump off before and never had this problem. Attached (hopefully, as I've never tried posting photos before) is picture with the old and the new. Any help will be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You could cut the old fitting off old line and see if it goes into new hose.

George: reading all of this may help. Also, look at photo in Post #5 here and then email poster as to what kind of fittings are needed.

For George/Maine - Tried that but no good. I'm stumped here. Even the two ends that came apart won't fit back together. Something with that compression bead that I'm doing wrong. Thanks for input though.

As you've determined, the compression bead is not seating enough to allow you to start the threads. Can you place the female end in a vice to hold it and then apply more pressure on the male piece?

If you cut off old fitting and see if it screws into new hose with out ferule bead.
I had the same problem could be hose or fitting. The old one looks original.
See if hole is big enough to put tube in hose. Some of this new junk they sell is no good.

I had the same problem. My rubber hose was not made for using a bead to seal, I had to make a cone on the tube instead.

Not sure where you got the rubber hose from, but in my opinion , unless it came from Bob Shewman (sp?) , I would throw it away. All of the repro hoses I have seen are either not alcohol proof or have a tiny inside diameter plastic liner hose, or both problems.
Just my opinion, but I am sticking with it. Bob is the guy.
