Installing rubber floor 53 F100

I am installing a new rubber floor in my 53 F100. I am having a difficult time figuring out how to remove the gas pedal so I can allow for the cutout for the pedal? any suggestions?

It also looks like I need to remove the steering column to allow for the floor cutouts as well. any suggestions on the easiest way to do this?

I have a 239 flathead with 3 speed on the column.

Thx

I have a NOS or NORS, don't know which, floormat in my truck that came embossed with the various cutouts for the steering column, accelerator pedal, floor shift and hand brake. It was also split above the steering to install around it. The stock accelerator pedal mounts to the transmision inspection cover with a couple of pan head machine screws.

If it's like the 48-52's, you don't want to remove the gas pedal, you just disconnect it from the linkage ball near the top. Then slide the mat over the pedal.

I think they don't pre-cut or pre-slit these so that the hot rod crowd with automatics and aftermarket steering columns aren't left with holes and cuts where they don't want them.

I installed one in my 53 f-100 about a year ago go with the cut outs provided you don't have to remove the gas pedal just pull it from the rod, also remove the brake and clutch pedal pads, its an easy install.
