Model 51 radiator

1 Attachment(s)
Got the radiator out of the grill today, it appears to me it may be beyond repair, so was wondering were to find one for my 36 model 51 1/1/2 ton. Also this bracket on top of the radiator seems to be made to it? Will I need this attached to my new radiator or can u get them with this attached? Thanks.

It should be soldered on, take a torch and heat the bracket up, you should see solder starting to ooze out..I just took all that stuff of a '36 radiator.

But why do you think it's beyond repair?

Edit:

The sides for the grill is soldered on as well...save it all if you have to take it apart....as well as the bottom piece...note you have to take out the petcocks before the bottom mount will come off.

2nd edit:) :

The aftermarket radiators come with them on when I was looking for one a few years back.

There is a nice one on Ebay I've been watching for quite awhile now, for a back up but I really dont need it, $200 + 50+ shipping.

Thanks guys.... and yes I've seen that one on Ebay, i'm seeing if it's 28 inches tall like my old one. I took my old one to a good radiator guy around here, and he all but comdemned it dead, it's got a huge chunk broke out of the tank at the top, if I couldn't find anything, he said he might try it. I have talked to a company called Brassworks.net, the claim they can build me me one with all the proper brackets soldered on and brace rod attachments...but for just under 1000 bucks, I've got plenty other to spend on this project so would love to find one that would work for less of course.

Heres a pic of some that claim to be for a 36 ford truck on ebay, but the cap is offset and wouldn't fit in the cowl. The radiator cap on mine becomes part of the hood ornament the way it appears, this one to me wouldn't work? Thoughts? thanks again!

I do not think the one pictured would work. The 35-37 pickups and trucks all have the radiator cap opening in the middle.

Agreed, not sure why they are selling them as a 36 flathead radiator?
