Lebonney Baron question One of our customers called LB about some tech questions on installing interior parts in a 28 2Dr. Apparently the main tech man has retired. The young individual on the phone apparently had no idea what to tell the customer, and was rather rude and short. The parts had been made by LB, but were not fitting at all. Anyone had any problems or concerns with LB as of late?? They have been great in the past.
Thanks!! |

Re: Lebonney Baron question What do you need Bob? Maybe we can help.
(BTW; A lot of people have changed at L/B in the past few years including the ownership.) |
Re: Lebonney Baron question Let me also add that incorrectly cut/installed wood has a great influence on how panels fit. Also, do not be afraid to template out the vehicle and peel back the fabric where alterations to the panel can be made. Then re-glue the fabric to the panel and install.

Re: Lebonney Baron question I'm pretty sure I had a short, unpleasant conversation with that young man a couple weeks ago. It did not reinforce any good vibes I had for a company that I've spent a lot of Model A bucks with in the past ten years.
Not to be political, but I would have fired him. I miss Elizabeth. |
Re: Lebonney Baron question for that matter, has any one used Cartouche lately? I had a car with their kit some years back which looked good but the door panels were a little overpadded causing the cranks to wear into the material.

Re: Lebonney Baron question car-douche yea do a search here
look at the wear spot on my avatar picture at the seat front.. thats with very very little use... the door panel did the sames thing where my knee touches |
Re: Lebonney Baron question I think the name of the company you are referring to is LeBaron Bonney.
I have no clue who Lebonney Baron is. |
Re: Lebonney Baron question I sent some door sills back to them and had to go to my credit card for the refund. I'll let Chase deal with them. I guess customer service is not what it use to be

Re: Lebonney Baron question Your right. The company is LeBaron Bonney. Sorry, my fault.. wasn't watching my writing.
Thanks for the info. Thanks Terry!! |
Re: Lebonney Baron question Interesting. I called for a sample card two weeks ago, and the fella I talked to was impatient, to say it kindly. I told him I needed to replace a moth-damaged panel, but wanted a current sample to see if the new fabric would match the old. He wanted to know when I bought the kit. When I told him 1979, he seemed a little lost as to how to repond to that. But we did get it straightened put, and the sample arrived in three days. BTW, the fabric matched.

Re: Lebonney Baron question I asked about getting a new covering for my seat cushions in my 29 coupe. Got the info within a few days, with samples for the 29 coupe. Looks like they know what they are doing. But I have not ordered anything yet.

Re: Lebonney Baron question Whenever I encounter an ignorant employee I speak with his superiors. Maybe you guys should do the same as if is possible that the owner(s) don't know they have a problem! Wayne
|
Re: Lebonney Baron question I find it's "Hit & Miss" with them. Sometimes they get right back with great information, and other times I'm ignored completely. The items I have bought from them are first class though.

Re: Lebonney Baron question I went with Classtique. Their upholstery samples were the same as LB's.
|
Re: Lebonney Baron question FWIW, I live only a about 10 miles from LBB but I haven't been in there for a couple of years. I do hear that the "main tech man" Doug has retired.

Re: Lebonney Baron question Quote:
Classtique has also changed owners ...and IMO this has not been a positive transition. |

 Hmmmm, did you take the time to read thru each of the posts in this thread to see if your question was answered? Did you miss Post #10 (reposted below) which would have given you the clue?? Quote:

Re: Lebonney Baron question Re Classtique, the business split into kit making and installations. Mike owns the kit business (Classtique) and Elizabeth owns the installation business. Mike has been making kits since before the split.
