Distributor Drive Gear Fit I got a new drive gear and after installing it in the drive gear
bearing I have .032 gap between the drive gear bearing and the drive gear sleeve, this seems like way to much. The old gear had .016 end play and I checked a couple others I have and they are .017 to .019. Anybody know what the end play should be? Bob |
Re: Distributor Drive Gear Fit The parts you are working with is the "oil pump drive gear assembly". You have installed a new oil pump drive gear in your drive gear housing. When you installed the drive gear sleeve you have .032 end play.
Did you install a new sleeve? If you re-installed the old sleeve it may be worn. You could try using thrust washers to take up the space. Make sure they are thrust washers not just plane washers. ( You may know this but there are other people reading it) |
Re: Distributor Drive Gear Fit Thanks for the reply redmodelt. I know the problem is the new gear as
the other three I tried only had half the play. After looking at how it all works I see the rotation of the cam is going to pull the drive gear down in operation and so I don't think there will be a problem with the gear bouncing up and down. Bob |
