Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage Yes to above; but he has to get appraisal to show insurer what value is so they can agree.

Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage I didn't need an appraisal for grundy, I took my car to the insurance salesman, and told him what I wanted to insure it for, they have an appraisal book they can look at different rates, if its modified higher costs, I have a 57 chevy 4dr I was going to have it insured for $10,000, he said it was worth more, $14000, and so I went with $14000, no problem
|
Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage I also have Grundy. Sent them pictures and a copy of the title. I had a value in mind and they agreed, Simple, no problems.

Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage Hagerty, how much? NO appraisal needed. Pick a number, pay that premium. They wanted pictures.

Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage I think there is an "Agreed Value" at which an appraisal is required by some insurance companies.
|
Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage Might be talking two different things here, there is "agreed value" which is what both parties agreed to and that amount determines payments. Then there is "appraisal value" with the value set by an appraiser and that amount determines payments. But I have not heard of both mixed together. Guess it is possible, but they are two different approaches to establishing insured amount.

If you want a high figure check out the NADA Classic/Antique car guide they seem really high, at least to me. |
Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage State Certified Appraiser of Vintage Automobiles:
Gerald C. Linen Professional Adjustment Services 6 Appaloosa Ct, Waterford NY 12158 (518) 237-1884 In NY State insurance companies must be State Certified. My MetLife company subcontracts its insurance of vintage autos to a specialty national company and the State requires an inspection and certified appraisal by a State Certified Appraiser. To avoid fraud, State Insurance Laws do not allow "over-insuring" property beyond its appraised value. MY '47 is appraised above 22,000 and my annual rate is under $400. including an elected up-grade in collision coverage. Contrary to what Clerks at NYS DMV offices may tell you, NYS has no laws that limit annual miles driven by vintage autos, and neither does my insurance company. |
Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage some ins. co's want an appraisal if the valve is over $20K

Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage Agreed Value = you and the insurance company agree on a value and you pay premiums based on that agreed value. In the event of total loss they write you a check.
Stated Value = you tell the insurance company what its worth and they write a policy based on your statement. If you have a total loss you need to prove to the insurance company the car had the value you stated, otherwise they pay a lesser amount based on "car was not actually worth the amount the owner stated". They will use 'Blue Book' or some such thing to lower your claim. |
Re: Auto appraisal for insurance coverage What about insuring an A-V8? My is not OEM by any means , but lots of $$$ to replace. Not counting the thousand free labor hours.
