Lil Deuce Coupe or a Hot Rod Lincoln????

That title should get everyone's attention!!!!

Had a neighbor drive by, stopped and adored Sarah. He asked if I wanted an old grease gun? I asked, what did it look like. He described it to me the best he could, I said sure, if it's free, I'll clean it up. (hoping it was for a Model A). Well, it's not for a Model A but......................once I get it cleaned up, I'll post a photo. Watch this space....................that's all I'm going to say about that....for now!!! :D

Did some searching, Lincoln grease gun, made for Lincoln autos, Harleys and was contracted by the government during WWII. Bummer it wasn't a Model A's.

When I first heard "Hot Rod Lincoln" at about age 10, the line "that Model A body makes it look like a pup" sealed my fate. I knew one day I had to own a Model A. I got my first one at age 16, and have owned about 20 since then, but I kept them all stock. Great song, but that first one convinced me to keep them all original.

I had the fortunate experience of seeing the "Hotrod Lincoln" in person a couple of times a few years ago and even met the singer once. They used to live not far from here in Lewiston Idaho. The "Grapevine Hill" that Charlie talks about in the song is actually the Lewiston Grade. Quite an experience in a stock Model A. You don't pass 'nothin' goin' up that hill!

I believe the song refers to the Grapevine out of San Pedro, which is now part of Los Angeles.

The Grapevine is in Kern County between LA and Bakersfield on Interstate 5, formerly Hwy 99. It got its name when the first settlers traveling that pass had to chop their way through The Grapevine that filled the canyon. That Grapevine still grows there and be seen on both side of the road.
San Pedro is now and has always been part of the City of Los Angeles.

I'm aware of the "Grapevine" being in CA. However, the hill that Charlie Ryan actually drove that car on was the Lewiston Grade - cause that's where he lived.

Larry, thanks for the correction. You sent me to wikipedia, and here is the the true story, corroborating your post.

By the way, if you're a guitar player, the HRL main riff is not terribly difficult to learn and fun to play.
