Do an easy check first. With the coil wire about 1/4" from a head nut, do you get a hot blue spark?

Another easy check.......pull the choke a little when it starts to bog down, and see if it picks up speed. Have you removed the fuel line at the carb and let the gas flow into a quart jar for a couple minutes. It needs to keep a good steady stream flowing.

Does this happen regardless of engine temp? Where do you have the GAV set?

Thanks for responding guys.I have good spark.I will pull the fuel line and check for debris or blockage. When i try to shift into second he just hesitates and wants to stall out.Sorry for sounding like a dummy.but all my past model a's have not been stock.thanks again.

No apologies necessary, as long as you keep it stock! :) We were all new to these cars at one time. You have a common problem and it's usually something simple. Just check one thing at a time and make a note of the results (very important), and use good (not cheap) replacement parts when necessary. And let us know what you learn so we can learn too.

Re: Engine hesitation 30 coupe help

It sounds like the carburetor is still dirty to me. As said, try to pull the choke half way or so when shifting and see if that helps. It seems to me like you're having an acceleration lean issue.
If you didn't soak the carburetor with an air tube bubbling you probably still have dirty passages. I don't usually drill out the plugs, but, I snake them with some wire/ tip cleaners and soak them as above and blow them out with a lot of air. I may do it twice.
