Needle and Seat question 1 Attachment(s)
I'm having a flooding issue with my carb which I've narrowed down to the needle and the o ring. When I bought the car the previous owner told me the o ring would stick to the needle if the car wasn't run for a few days. So my question, is there a set up that uses an o ring that doesn't swell up?

Re: Needle and Seat question Get a steel tipped needle.

Re: Needle and Seat question The stock Ford setup with a metal pin (not Viton tipped) is the most reliable in my experience.

Re: Needle and Seat question If it's Ford carb 97 get a steel seat, maybe Charlie N.Y. Walt

Re: Needle and Seat question The one in your pic looks like an aftermarket chap. Gross jet or somethin like that. Bin it and go stock.

Re: Needle and Seat question It is a newer carb, when you guys say get a steel set up, will that screw in the existing hole or will it need to be modified
|
Re: Needle and Seat question It should just screw in.

Re: Needle and Seat question ive found the steel needle works best.clean fuel is key.of course fuel preasure is important as well but not as fussy as some say.

I have a good used steel tip needle and seat assembly for a Holley/Ford 94 carburetor. It's in excellent shape and holds vacuum. I know it's good. If you want it, you can have it if you send me a couple dollars for the shipping.

Re: Needle and Seat question Pete, that's cool. I would like to hear from Uncle Max to get his thoughts on these.

Re: Needle and Seat question Nothing wrong with the stock setup is there? Sounds like a single carb setup, no need for spangled high flow stuff.

Re: Needle and Seat question Thanks for the responses, there is some real good guys on here that offered me a usable set up. Thanks again.

Re: Needle and Seat question I'm having the same problem with that very same needle and seat. Mine is in a '46 Coupe that is running a "Ford/Holley" model 94 Carb. Starts right up when it has been sitting and is cold. Runs and idles great. Floods when you shut it off. You can see raw gas leaking out between the body and the base. I plugged the power/economizer valve just to eliminate any chance that it might be leaking by. It is not.
That needle and seat seems to be the problem. It is, in fact, not a needle but, a small rod pushes up against a disc that is supposed to shut the fuel off. I don't believe it is working. New Edelbrock rebuild kit on the way from Summit Racing. The kit appears to have a true needle. It may be Viton tipped, it was hard to tell. I will stick it in this weekend and report back. Dale |
Re: Needle and Seat question Look in that little drawer in the old toolbox where you put small parts you may need again. All kinds of treasures you forgot you had.
