head gasket When using a copper head gasket and A "Z" head, aluminum; does the smooth side of the gasket go to the block or against the head? thank you
|
Re: head gasket You must install with the large water passages on the end, matching the holes in the block, One end is larger than the other.

Re: head gasket Large water passage goes to the rear - no matter what.

Re: head gasket In any case the smooth side goes down the reason being that the edge of the fire ring will after time leaves it mark and it's easier to mill the head then the block. Don't forget to seal with copper coat.

Re: head gasket Thank you very much. That is what I will do in the AM

Re: head gasket When torquing down the aluminum Z head, can I do it when the motor is hot like a cast iron head, or should I wait until it cools down. I love the power increase that I got from the higher compression.
