Voltage to coil question

12v system. Voltage across the ceramic ballast resistor to coil is 5.5v. The coil (new) has 1.5 ohm resistance. Crab distr. Is this setup OK? Thanks. Trying to troubleshoot some running problems.

Re: Voltage to coil question

The wire that goes to resister remove and go there to grd.
See if you have 12 volts.
Then pick any car with 12 volts and buy a resister and coil for that car.
Like a 68 Chevy coil and resister.

Voltage may be off a little but no problem shown. Resistor typically drops to 6 volts and coil supply is approx 6 volts as well,,,,

A 1.5 ressitor and a 1.5 coil = 3.0 ohms total resistance . 3 ohms divided into 12 volts - 4 amps
Perfect system...........:)
