Ken in New Zealand does anybody put anti freeze in the water of a model T over winter..if so what quantities? |
Re: Ken in New Zealand Yes, many people do use antifreeze. Use the same ratio you use in your modern car - 50/50. 1925 Ford specifications show this capacity: Total Capacity – 25 pints Capacity Water Jackets and Hose – 5 quarts These would be US capacities, not Imperial measure. Antifreeze provides corrosion protection as well a freezing protection. |
Re: Ken in New Zealand I start at 50/50 then add until good for -40c, I leave it in all year round without any problems. Vic |
Re: Ken in New Zealand I'm in Canada. |
Anti-Freeze The other side of snti freeze is it raises the boiling point of the coolant. The 15 boiled constantly (breathe hard and you'd get tea time) until I did the 50/50 mix - now, it almost never steams up. |
