1924 Hood

I have a 1924 hood and would like to know what the diameter of the center hood hinge rod is? The two outer hinge rods are 1/4-inch. I'm missing the center. Next question, are there caps on the ends of the center hinge rod to keep it from coming out or centered? Thanks Walt
