1941 Rear Brake Shoes (forward facing shoe shoe vs rear)

1 Attachment(s)
Attached is a pic of the right rear (passanger side) Brake assy. I believe based on what I've read the brake shoes in this pic are reversed and NOT correctly installed?? I'm told the "long" show should face the front of the car along with the wheel cylinder with the larger dia. Piston. Looking for a final decision before I start putting every thing back together

This is the first time I attached a pic so I'm hoping you can see it.

Veeder...On Lockheed-type brakes (which these are), you are correct. LARGE part of cylinder toward front. LONG shoe also toward front. Soooooooo, start assemblin'! DD

It should look as V8 says. On a 40 Ford it looks like:
left front(driver side).... 1st photo
right rear (Pass. side).....2nd photo
left rear (driver side)....3rd photo
On all wheels the big shoe faces forward along with the larger dia. of wheel cylinder.
Be sure to clean all your bottom brass brake adjuster parts and bolts so they turn nice and easy. Take photos first.
The middle photo is tilted because I tilted the camera. In real life, it's level.

Thanks guys I was sure I had this straight until I looked at this post and no one picked up on the shoes being "backwards" for lack of a better description.

I looked at the post
https://fordbarn.com/forum/showthread...d+package+tray
and am wondering what holds those rear coil springs in place? I don't see any spring pockets. For viewing please, please post photos of how your rear axle suspension is set up. Did you use a torque arm?
