Ran across this 41-42 ton ford while on vacation. The old gal was almost rust free, but lots of dents and cracks, nice ghost town. They were totally out of gas too. Chuck S.

From what I can see based on the V8 embossed on the hood it's a '40, put that's just my WAG. Regardless I like it.

I think I'd take the gas pumps home first.

I have to agree . I Would be interested in the gas pumps. The truck looks better than most of my projects that I have started with .

If it's in Bodie, you can't "rescue" it.

These pair are laying in a field at the foot of the range we just pulled over in the 33 and caravan,I had already seen one big brown snake that day and wasn,t going to walk through the long grass to get a closer look.

You guys are right on the ball, it was Bodie,Ca., and it can't be saved because it is part of a state owned "ghost town". I too have started with many restorations a lot worse than this truck. I can only dream of this kind of a find, being from up state New York.
If you ever get out here be sure to visit Bodie, a great place, Chuck S.

This past Winter we went to Castle Dome mines and ghost town just north of Yuma, AZ and found this sitting out.

I agree with the others on those gas pumps. No broken glass and waiting for someone like me to take them home. No such luck.

Re: they are still out there

Pretty sure the gas pumps are protected by law, if you take them you get fined for poaching.

ironhorse 05-12-2014 10:02 PM

Re: they are still out there

The fine might be less then the pumps are worth....just saying...lol

The fine may be less BUT the jail time for defacing/stealing gov property may not be so good when Bubba finds you in the shower!!!
