Running Board Luggage holders I was at a local junk shop yesterday, and saw a pair of the clamp-on expanding scissor type running board luggage/cargo holders.
Just wondering...did Ford ever make them, or were they an aftermarket accessory? Also, what might a pair of them in decent shape be worth? These needed some T.L.C., and wire-brushing and paint, but they were basically intact, and still expanded and folded up quite easily. |
Re: Running Board Luggage holders I paid $20 for a decent set that would need paint to a lot of people, but suited my car just fine. I've seen them being sold for $40 in really nice shape and I thought it was a good deal.

Re: Running Board Luggage holders No, FORD did not make them. However, about every Tom, Dick and Harry outside vendor DID make them. They were found in a wide array of styles, shapes and configurations. I have about 5 or 6 of them, each one different from the other. The last time I saw them at swap-meets, they were selling for around $10 for 'rough shape', $20 for 'good shape', and $30 for "excellent" shape. They are really quite common, as a great many of them were sold in the twenty's and early thirties, because they were a really handy accessory to increase the limited hauling space on an old car.

Re: Running Board Luggage holders I think they were really popular during the depression.
