Did they also do the Open Cab or was that one of Ford's production? Thank you. Pluck |

Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... Vince, that photo of a slant Tudor is amazing.
Will you put up any other Budd photos on your site, like the stretched 1931 Fordor already there? I have a large B stamp on the metal subframe of my '29 Tudor [ where the body # is stamped] which I thought may have been a Budd mark. Tom |
Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... ..wow...

Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... Thanks Vince, that is NEAT stuff!!! You can definitely see in both examples where they were following what were current ford features but definitely taking it up a notch. Tudors have never excited me much but that one makes me think twice!

Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... Stunning comes to mind! I'll take the Tudor...
The Fordor is interesting,....windshield slides, cowl vent and the hub cap, which looks like the first type used. What craftsmanship! |
Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... I own a 1925 Budd-bodied car, not Ford. The workmanship is very top notch. Best thing about it is NO WOOD. All steel welded body. Henry must have been chasing the idea of an all steel body for some time according to the photo's posted, since the '31 slants were virtually all steel.

Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... A question if I might.
To stamp the pieces would require dies, and dies are expensive, unless you can amortize them over a long production run, so the question is, did Budd really make the dies on speculation? Or were they made for another customer and used as a promo to Ford? CZ |

Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... So did Budd build the body for my 130-a Delivery.? There is a lot of wood in them. Phil

Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... Might as well ask...
Do you have any of these production pics of the Steeltop pickup? -Tim |
Re: Budd Body Model A Ford in 1928... Just occasionally, amazing era photos or new information appears on FB.
These Budd photos are one of them. Thanks to Vince & to Steve for asking the question. |
