'36 Water pump fitting for temp probe
 

Anyone know where I can get the fitting to connect temp probe to the side of the water pump as shown in the photo? I do not want to put it into the hose. Any leads? Thank you

If its to adapt a dualtemp female nut to a male fitting that would go into the 36 left pump it does not exist to my knowledge.

I needed the same exact fitting to do this and none were available for my 34 3W I went to napa and went thru their drawers and got a fitting with male threads on both ends. Took it to a friend who is a machinist of sorts and had him turn down the inside to give me a taper for the temp bulb to seal on. It seems to work even tho the probe is not all the way into the water path like it would be in a hose. it gives me a reading. I did not care for the hose installation as my car is a 40-50's hotrod original paint with no fenders or boards.

If I remember correctly,I used a rubber "O"ring for a seal. No leaks yet.

Just opinion here... The pumps that I have seen, very few, have that port machined to accept the fitting that comes with the temp gauge - it's for a male, with the flared part that comes with the temp probe. Easiest way to get that fitting that I know of, is to get an inexpensive, new temp gauge, and steal the fitting from it. I did this recently, and got the gauge at my local auto parts store - I think about $19, threw the gauge away, and had the proper fitting. Looked like an autometer gauge, but I think it was a cheap import. (cheaper than a machinist) JMO

Here is the photo I forgot to attach. I like that idea of getting a fitting off a cheap gauge, I will look in to that. Worst case I guess I will drill into the hose

Hi Digger,

Have you tried C& G in California or Stacy Brown at Antique Parts in Arlington,TX?
Another idea is contacting a water pump restorer like Skip Hanley. They might have one to sell or know where to get one.
