Newport engineering wipers
 

Newport Engineering in Washington makes a very fine looking dual wiper kit for 1935-1936 Fords ( as well as other years). It includes all linkage and templates and is a two speed set-up. I want to buy this kit for my '35 Coupe.....However...HOWEVER this kit is $370!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES!!!!! Has anyone tried this kit, preferably in a '35 or '36....and if so, were you happy with it? Since no one else has chimed in, I'll tell you what I know about them.
I have one of their units on my 55 Handyman. It is an older unit and last year the motor started getting hot and stopping. Not good when it's pouring rain. I had to stop and apply RainX to the windshield on my way home from a show on the other end of Tennessee.
Anyway. I checked into getting another unit and found similar prices. :eek::eek:
So I emailed them so see if I could just get a motor and they said they can replace the motor for under 100 bucks. I sent it to them, they fixed it and sent it back. Works great.
So, I guess what I'm saying is they have good products and good customer service as well.

Not '35, but, I've had their electric motor on my '40 since 1995 with no problems. Admittedly, I don't run them much because I use Rainx. Also, this unit only replaces the drive motor, it uses the rest of the stock '40 linkage. So it is probably a whole different animal from your '35.

Matt, does your car have two wipers now? Their kit for a 36 does not fit the original holes. You have to move the right side a few inches. That's fine if its a new build, but as a replacement...I didn't want to go that way. You might look into Mighty Wiper, but you'll need two units if you want two wipers, their unit won't power both wipers, and only has one speed. But it's an easy install.

I had a mighty wiper in 2 of my 32's.Worked great but very noisy.I have heard that the foreign car cable ones work well.

I have them on my 40 and have had them on a past car, very happy with them. A friend used the kit they sell to use dual wipers on a 40 pickup and was well pleased with the in stall.

I had Newport wipers on my '39 coupe. They worked great. There was one drawback; the wiper motor is so large, it goes through the headliner and into the cab. I had to have the upholstery guy make a "box" of sorts to cover it. Once it was covered, it sort of went away. It wasn't a huge deal to me but thought I'd mention it.

I have Newport Engineering units in my '51 Ford, '55 & '56 Chev PUs & work great.

Newport Engineering is located in Missouri not Washington. Best Wiper products on the market. Beware of cloned Chinese knockoffs. A couple of the big name early Forts parts vendors have copied Bob's parts and they are not the quality of the original.

I've been seriously considering the Newport wipers for my '31PU. It has hand wipers now, which don't work very well at all. The price doesn't bother me at all, but I just need to convince myself that the time and effort for the installation would be worth it.

I have Newport's double wiper in my '37 Slantback. A piece of cake to install and work great. I had tried the specialty power window units wiper, but a real pain to install and didn't like the cable detail. Go for the Newport, you won't regret it.

I vote for Newport, working great in my 50 and 52 Fords, and in the throes of installing them in my 56 Sunliner. They handle Florida Rain which can really be heavy.
