No Camshaft

Just think, a stock cam for cruising and mileage, an L-100 for drive through and a 400jr for racing. All at the flick of a switch.

Wow, thanks Ron. I have seen the future, and the future is now; brilliant engineering!

I want one. . . . . NOW. That is really something to ponder. Thanks for sharing.

Ron,

Thanks for sharing this information! All it takes is brains and a LOT of engineering money. :-)

if you want a real nice runing flathead leave it stock.

Above & beyond my pea sized brain. Thanks Ron, very interesting.

Re: No Camshaft

Thanks for posting that, Ron. More exciting than the prospect of electric cars. I assume all the valve action is computer controlled.

Re: No Camshaft

Ron, Thanks for posting that info. That is fantastic. Better gas mileage means less dependence on foreign oil but a decrease in gas tax revenue. The government will now tax number of miles driven each year to make up for the loss.

Re: No Camshaft

How cool is that?! So, right off the top of my head, I can see the timing gear being removed and the sensor (I assume it needs this) off the crankshaft installed in that cavity. I would guess that leaves plenty of space for the valve actuator to sit in the existing lifter bores. I'll bet that Richard and Ron already have the prototype finished with Richard turning them out on his new lathe.:D

Re: No Camshaft

That stuff would sit good in the larger flathead valve bore .

I'll let you know how it works in my truck.

Ol' Ron, you are not only "The Man" with so much old Ford knowledge, you are also interested and watching the leading edge of technology in the auto industry. GOD bless you and stay with it. You have so much to offer.

With technology such as this the much heralded demise of the internal combustion engine in favor of electrical power might just be premature. Thanks Ol' Ron for sharing this video.

I can't take credit for all this praise. People send me stuff and I just pass it along. I got this from George Perry, a good friend of mine, so, lets thank George!!!

Isn't it amazing when the price of things start getting HIGHER & HIGHER
>> Gas / Oil along with other things <<
people start to put there thinking caps on and say Boy there has to be a better way.
We are really living in a amazing time when it comes to technology.:D

As long as it could be dialed to different settings while in motion I would like one - I don't care if it was in my 52 F2 Ford, my 96 Ford Exploder, or my 15 HP Lawnmower - I just like to play

Re: No Camshaft

It seems like I remember some engine builder experimenting with hydraulic operated valves at some point long in the past. The control system & timing would be a nightmare but a person could theoretically control the valve lift & duration too. It would eliminate the need for a cam but bring other problems along for the ride, like leaky servos for one.

I guess we will have to settle for the mechanical cam & just choose the most appropriate grind for the task at hand. Would be neat to have an instant hot rod when you wanted one though.
