Color on Ve 28 Tudor http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/3...ogforda026.jpgHi,
On my Tudor from Dec 27, there is a much lighter green color on the engine than I have seen on other Model A.. Is there a lighter version of the Ford engine green color.? There is no evidence of it has been painted after it was fitted from new .. I have also wondered about the Whole bod has painted in the same color (Gunmetal Blue). with stripes in french gray. I am 100% sure body not painted after it went from the assembly line at the Rouge plant .. I put a few pictures in the thread ..Hope some can help me with some answer.. http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/6828/img1690yy.jpg http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/747/p3035669.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/9900/p3035670.jpg Best regards Per Jensen |
Re: Color on Ve 28 Tudor I have seen that lighter color. I belive it was used in the 60's. If I'm seeing correctly you also have the same color on the PH generator, which makes me think that it has been repainted. Nice car! I always like the VE28's.

The generator is grey, and it is change in the middel 50,s, the car has been in Denmark since it was new.. I guess it came to DK by ship in Jan-Feb 1928.. have been told that the engine have been restored, but not paintet... So i Wonder if there maybee are 2 different color in geeen..?? Re: Color on Ve 28 Tudor There has been some talk about Grey engines coming out of Canada, but I have never seen that shade on and engine! Reminds me of the kitchen paint in my Dad's old farm house. I have strppied two Canuck engines that appeared to be grey from the start. Mind you a few others have been red, lime green, blue, and yellow. I call it "Go Faster Paint"

Re: Color on Ve 28 Tudor Hello Per,
The engine compartment photo is interesting. A lot of changes, front mount, crank pulley, bolts(?), shroud and (Jim) I don't think that's a PH generator. Nice too see the early head nuts(I believe). The original Gunmetal Blue (spots,on my car), looks different than your color, off my 28 Roadster. |
Re: Color on Ve 28 Tudor I have heard that different manufacturing plants used different color formulas for their engine paint. I have seen that color on another engine that is original and never been opened. Now I have no proof of this, but would not surprise me if one pigment ran short and they had to tweak the formula until refills arrived.

Ok, maybee i am wrong about the color..I am not sure, that it is Gunmetal Blue, but i found it close, first i belived it was a Niagra Blue Dark, but i am not sure... Maybee some of your , can help locate the color..?? |
Re: Color on Ve 28 Tudor My 28 Phaeton is original gunmetal blue on the firewall, and it actually looks green.
Plind, I see you still have the original specail bolt and part of the tension brace for the powerhouse. |
Re: Color on Ve 28 Tudor Per,
I agree with Tom. My 28 Roadster is Dawn Gray Dark/ Gun Metal Blue( or the other way around ) and it looks Green. Look in protected areas for the original color, try behind the "patent plate" or between the gas tank and the upper fire wall. Also, behind the "dash rail",...I found a lot of original paint there.
