temperature gauge for 1933

Do many of owner install a temperature gauge in your cars? If so are there any out there that can fit into the 1933 instrument cluster, Like in the place of the non working fuel gauge?

My 36 has a split temp and gas gauge in the dash. It is a nice looking gauge.

If I ay, I would like to ask you about your tires n wheels. I love the way your car sits.
Did you use a dropped axle ? I sent you a message but don't know if you got it.
Thanks Pat

I think my car is mostly original..I never added anything like that. Nothing looks added or newer underneath so I assume that it is all factory.
Hope my rear shocks are not bad that is why it looks dropped Axel?
Thanks for your positive comment. I greatly appreciate it.

Re: temperature gauge for 1933

In cars up to 1934 did they determine their car is overheating? Was it because the radiator overflow kept loosing coolant?

I think there was a dual guage for 34 on the swap meet side last week or so, not sure if it sold? Seems the guy was asking $275 if memory serves me right

Re: temperature gauge for 1933

Bad shocks will not change the stance of the car, the spring does. Repair the gas gauge for better driving and you would have to change the LH water pump to a 35 or 36 to get a point where an aftermarket temperature gauge with a bourdon tube could attach. The duel fuel temperature gauges are rare and $$$ . You can get a nice, accurate Stewart Warner gauge (non electric) for a LOT less.

so true...Bad shocks would cause undamped bouncing. which my car does not have. The springs look fine underneath. Nothing is broken. I thing the position of the car looks great.

Re: temperature gauge for 1933

I have a 1933/34 dual Fuel Temperature gauge in my car. It works but is not accurate -It reads outside normal range hot at 190F. I have tried the alternate ice and boiling water baths to try and work out any bubbles in it but still reads high. Next year once the silly season is over I will need to get it recalibrated (which I think equals rebuilt!) . I did sent a message to Morris gauges who contribute on this forum if they could recalibrate it but haven't heard back yet. I'm told there are others that will work on them -Karl

Karl, there is an instrument company here in Melbourne who I believe could repair your Ford King Seeley temp gauge. Howard Instruments in West Heidelberg. That's a bit closer than the USA. Regards, Kevin.

Believe it is some environmental issue on the red fluid.

Any idea where to get a replacement gas gauge tube with attached copper tubing and fluid for a 1934 fuel/temperature gauge?
