1937 to 1941 replacement drag link Looking for a QUALITY made replacement drag link for a 37 to 41 chassis. The one that was provided to me with a project looked OK, then realized it was not drilled for cotter pins and had nylock nuts.
Tried the original castle nuts and they felt loose....tried the nylock nuts on the original and no-go ...replacement is metric? Im sure if a vehicle was to get judged, the nylock nuts wont be overlooked |

The authentic link had one tie rod end integral of the link itself. The repops do not. NOS links are frequently offered on eBay. Oh, again, if judging is in your future, there are no castile nuts on any '37 - '41 Ford that I am aware of. Certainly (for sure) none on a '39 or '40. |

Re: 1937 to 1941 replacement drag link Right now, i would rather be able to buy a part from a vendor that sells new replacement parts that takes a cotter pin and castle nut instead of getting something sorta correct in shape and fits then find out its metric with nylock nuts. If i had realized it was metric before drilling the holes for the cotter pins i would of just sent it back.
As for castle nuts, just about everything on the chassis has them right down to the shackles As for points, im sure anyone that is concerned wouldnt use it and anyone else considering buying one. Thats what your going to receive |

Now that we are past that. I will look for a NOS one and to anyone else in need of a new one, if you want something that is correct -dont buy what most, if not all of the repop vendors are offering. |

Parked nearby (Dearborn Meet) was Mr. Wayne Knudson's '40 Mercury Convertible. Talk about being nervous! I was glad there were a few cars between his and mine as mine looked like scrap compared to his. That car was beyond stunning! He and I would tease each other as to who had the worse case of OCD. Um, he did, hands down :) |
