1940 coupe trunk handle won't open This morning it took two hands to open my trunk (latch). The next time I tried, I couldn't for the life of me get the handle turned enough to open the trunk. I ended up cutting the base and through the shaft, leaving about 1". I was able to turn the shaft with vice grips and easily opened the trunk. Of course, with my butchered handle/base I have no idea why it quit working. Most of the parts were Vintique. A couple parts were Drake. All nearly new. All the big guns are out of stock. There's an ebay seller, but appears to be Vintique. Great day.....

Re: 1940 coupe trunk handle won't open Wow, That is frustrating. I wonder if you could have gone thru the back of the front seat panel.

Re: 1940 coupe trunk handle won't open I took a stab at it. But the way my car is upholstered, I risked doing a lot more damage going that route. Frustrated! And not being able to diagnose what was going on...

i know there's questions about DRAKE parts but the trunk handle I bought from him years ago still works good. Does DRAKE still sell them?

Re: 1940 coupe trunk handle won't open They're on back order (surprize). C & G said they've had them on order for 3 months, but couldn't tell me if the ones they stock were Drake or Vintique
