1940 1 Ton Express Truck Rebuild photos Good day to all barners, I thought it will be good to share a few photos of the re-built that i am busy with. The truck originally was part of the South African Defense force. Then it was bought on an auction and used in Kruger National Park as delivery truck still with the military color.
I was again put on auction and this time it was used on a very large farm. I bought it from the farmer who painted it silver. This is a total frame off restoration. It is a pity that some of the NORS manufacturers do not cater for some of the parts that is not shared with the 1/2 ton pickups. Enjoy! |

Good day, sorry for sending the mail without checking that the photos are attached. ("Our internet system still runs on kerosene, the more attachments you add the thicker the smoke").

Re: 1940 1 Ton Express Truck Rebuild photos Very nice job! Any mods or bone stock? Some of the guys here know I'm partial to the pickups, and the tonner model in particular. Keep up the posts and pictures as you close in on it. Also, check out the build here on the barn by a fellow named 'revenski'.

Thanks for the positive feedback. This past weekend I overhauled the 4 speed spur gear transmission. It was dismantled about 6 weeks earlier so I could assess the condition of all the internals and order the new parts. There is minor pitting on the gear torque transfer areas and I removed some sand from the box. It seems as water also present because the bottom of the box had rust in it.
The box was functioning before I started and I thought that it will be best to make sure all is OK. With all the parts available I re-packed this simple box and I am glad that I opened it. It is now fully assembled and ready for installation. It will, however, be placed on the shelf until the differential and engine is also done. Please see pictures of the box preparation attached. I am looking for the grille trim pieces for this truck. Should you perhaps stumble upon it, or know someone that might be able to assist I will appreciate your assistance.
