'40 Ford visors

The driver side visor in the '40 coupe is very stiff, probably hasn't been moved for years. It is hard to flip it up & down. I tried moving it back and forth a number of times, but it's still stiff. I don't want to break anything or use a lubricant that would damage the visor covering as it is great condition.

Better than it flopping down while driving. I'd leave it alone and normal use will probably loosen it up over time.

If you decide to work on it to make it flip easier, I suggest unscrewing the entire visor and gently work with it on a nice clean cloth on your work bench. Then reinstall. I haven't flipped mine down since 1988 so I imagine it's pretty snug.

To make my 40 coupe driver's side visor "stiffer" I pulled the visor straight off the rod (there is a pointed rod in that goes in the length of it) and put a slight bend in it, pushed the visor back on and it now stays where I put it. Yours may be rusty, work it back and forth and pull it off and clean the rod. As mentioned, best done off the car.

Thank you for the tip on pulling the visor off the shaft. Not something I thought of.
