Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness The question is for a 5 Window model B. I have an early and a late wiring diagram. The early one does not show the dome light. The late one shows the dome light hooked to a fuse box. I replaced my harness, but did not see anything that looked like the dome wire. That being said, the dome light has not worked since I have owned it.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness It's the same as an early V8. If you have the early B wiring harness there should be a black wire with a blue tracer coming out of the harness to connect to the long wire of the same colors coming down the right side A pillar for the dome lamp. The other end of that wire is routed to the battery side of the ammeter.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Looks like I am missing that one. Oh wait. I think I do have that. I assumed it went to the dash light. Hmm, can I split that to send one to the dash light and one to the dome light? I am working with a harness that came with the car so it may have not been ordered for both.
|
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness It serves both on an early four that has no dash light switch.
|
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness OK do these only work with the Headlights on? When I turn my headlights on, both the dash and dome com on and neither switch will turn them off. A short in both switches?
|
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness David, I had a 1930 Model A standard coupe. It had NO dome light. Is it possible that the standard versions of '32's had the same feature? (Or lack thereof)

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Dash lights come on with the headlight switch in any position except off. Black/Blue wire goes to the RH door B pillar dome light switch and then to the dome light. If the dome light will not turn off with the pillar switch the wires on the rear of the switch could be touching each other.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Jim,
As Terry indicates, if the switch is inoperative, either wires at the switch are touching or you have a faulty switch. fourfords, All of the North American '32 standard model closed cars came equipped with a dome lamp (except the sport coupe). |
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness 2 Attachment(s)
Does the diagram help you any? Not sure why, but 4 cyl diagram does not seem to show the dome light wiring. The v8 diagram shows it wired into the amp meter.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Jim has the book and therefore has all four '32 LHD wiring diagrams (pages A-15-2,3,4,and 5). He needs to follow the advice given in #2 and #7 above.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness As all of the applicable four-cylinder closed cars I've encountered, early, mid-year, and late, have had dome lamps just like their V8 siblings and I've never noticed any reference to it being added as a running change, likely it is an oversight in both the phantom view and the diagram or the phantom view and diagram were created before Job#1 final sign off on production vehicle content.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness I have noticed a lot of the wiring diagrams are marginal as far as being 100% correct. They appear to be more of a guide line. :)
|
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness I did follow the advice in two and 4. I created a Y extension off the Blue Black wire. So if it is all working correct, the dome light can only be turned on if the headlight or parking lights are on? OK I did not realize that. Thanks Dave. Had it out for a long drive and a good wash and wax last week. On to the rumble seat problems.....LOL.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness If it is wired to the battery side of the ammeter as I suggested in #4 and shown in JSeery's second wiring diagram which is also in the book (like a V8), the dome lamp is independent of the rest of the lighting system and can be operated with or without the head lamps.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Guess I should have made a point of that when I posted the diagrams. Thought it was obvious, but I am accustom to reading wiring diagrams.
|
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness I guess some of us are more dense than others. I was focused on the Blue Black wire and missed the reference to the battery side of the ammeter. Number 2 is the confusing part to me which said they were wired together.
I have a blue black wire coming from my harness that originates in the light cluster. In rereading everything. The Blue/black from the dome light goes to the battery side of the Amp meter, the dash light hooks into the blue/black with the lights. Also seems like I need to trouble shoot the dome light switch. right? |
Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Right.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness David..... thank you for your patience! It take me a while sometimes.

Re: Where does a 32 dome light hook into harness Jim,
You're most welcome. David |
