My first iron OHV casting! 2 Attachment(s)
Here is the first iron OHV casting. Still needs cleaned up and final shot blasting. I think it came out very nice for the fist one.

Re: My first iron OHV casting! From someone that doesn't know what they are looking at, I think that looks very nice. Where would the spark plug be located in such a head?
|
Re: My first iron OHV casting! Tod, your work never ceases to amaze me!

Re: My first iron OHV casting! It looks like both the exhaust and the intake valves are in the head. Is the head based on an existing design or is it a new design?

I'm impressed! Very Nice as always!

Re: My first iron OHV casting! I'm curious about the valve stem casting, does having it extend so close to the valve choke the air flow or is it a benefit, on the intake side at least?

It's a close copy. I think my ports will flow better than the original. Flow testing will be done asap. Thanks to hardtimes for sure. Tod |
Re: My first iron OHV casting! How about looking at putting a quench type combustion chamber in there also while your at it.

Re: My first iron OHV casting! Nice work. Your dedication is an inspiration.

Re: My first iron OHV casting! You are to be commended, Tod. Thank you.

After testing I will see if it needs it or if we can gain something. Initially, I just wanted to copy what Hardtimes sent. Tod |
Re: My first iron OHV casting! Yes, great copy. It will be exciting to see how your ports flow and see what comes next.

Re: My first iron OHV casting! Tod,
The casting looks really good, post more pics. Thanks, John |
Re: My first iron OHV casting! Tod, how do you establish the internal shapes of the water passages?
|
Re: My first iron OHV casting! Tell us about the valve train, is it one you are making, or is it one you are adapting from another motor?
Where are the push rods coming from, made special for this engine or from another motor? On the spark plug question I assume those will be cut in after the casting, or can't we see them from the angle of the views? |
Re: My first iron OHV casting! You guys always show me the neatest stuff on this board. Very cool!
