Light switch Is there a spring between the rotating contacts and the spider? I found a cupped washer between the two that looks like a spring may sit there and see no other purpose for the cupped washer.

Re: Light switch The sequence should be steering column, spring, spider, retainer clip, light switch body. No spring between the spider and the switch body.

Re: Light switch Oh yeah, that ring is not supposed to separate from the upper light switch body under normal circumstances. I'm not sure how it's assembled, though.

Re: Light switch The attachment of the rotating brass contactor ring and its insulator up in the upper body can be damaged due to improperly made parts. The lower contact plate is sometimes too thick and can lead to this type damage due to too much friction between parts.
A&L likely makes the best reproduction stuff but it all has to match up. Either 4-contact with OEM parts or 3-contact parts all have to match up. I think the 3-contact type is the only one reproduced. The old H type 4 contact would have to be good original stuff with all parts matching up on the design. |
