Fenderwell and rear quarter patch panels

I have welded in new fenderwells and new rear quarter panels and would like to know how far to bend the lower flange around the subframe. Also is it necessary to put in a antisqueek webbing in or not. My old rear quarter panels were so rusty that I could not tell what it was originally like. It seems like it could be a real good way of starting rust if done improperly.

Re: Fenderwell and rear quarter patch panels

If you look at original rear fender wells on coupes and roadsters, they are bent around about 3/4" to 7/8". In addition, there is a V cut every so often. I think the V cut is to allow one section at a time to be bent over the subrail. I think I have some picture of what I did when I reinstalled the quarter panels on my 28 coupe several years ago. If you need to see the pictures, send me an email to: [email protected]
