Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem 40 is the prefix to 1933-1934 Ford part numbers...so with that number I would immagine it is an original

Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem There is a difference between the 33 and the 34. I believe the 34 is a two piece unit and the 33 is one piece. I have a 34 two piece if any one is interested in it.

Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem yes it is, but the question is, is there any way to tell if its original? do repos have the part # on them?

Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem Based on the casting configuration on the back of both the 40-8221 base and the 40-8217-B V-8 ornament, they appear to be originals or at least conform to the several originals that I've had over the years. One piece is missing from your photo, Jan, and that is the 40-8219-B clamp which spans both threaded studs and fits up against the back of the grille bars. If you have an illustrated chassis parts catalogue, this clamp is shown along with 40-8217 and 40-8221. It would seem that the large flat washers in your photos were used for want of that clamp.

Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem yes David, the flat washers were used in place of the clamps. so u think they are originals.
|
Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem No, I do not believe the washers are original, just the V-8 emblem and base.
|
Re: 1934 v8 grill emblem oh yea, I know the washers are not.
